Sally Coomer is a homecare worker of her disabled adult daughter in Duvall, Washington. Under current law, she is forced to become a member of the SEIU. As a member, $95 a month is taken for union dues, which go to fund causes she does not support. That $95 could provide an additional 9 to 10 hours of care for her daughter.

  • You go girl. vote for the right to work legislation.

  • OutRAGEOUS of the SEIU!! FORCING to join them to provide heath care?! Well no wonder their wages increased by 40%!!! They're forcing people to join them, then FORCING the member dues of $95/mo., which is morally outrageous enough! She was then FORCED to quit her agency to be "forced to join a unionized agency" ---- I don't see the reasoning behind that at all and don't care what she's getting back from it! It's FORCING someone into beliefs she does not support is called COMMUNISM!

  • This is another example of SEIU embedding themselves in the medicaid system taking advantage of the most vulnerable for their own financial gain.

  • Really Kenzpark5 sounds like $95 was a lot of money to her. She sounded like she needed money not like she was doing well.

  • I'm sorry. Receiving something you don't want and being forced to pay dues to and organization you do not support. Hmmm. This is fair how? You want to be part of a union, fine. Stop screwing with those who do not want to be.

  • Since the founding of the union, wages increased by 40% for home care workers, starting wages are above $10/hour, with additional raises for experience. A majority of home care workers have affordable health, dental, and vision insurance and paid time off, mileage reimbursement, and fully employer-paid workers compensation (L & I).

This woman is receiving her union dues back and then some.
