"American Diabetes month is a great opportunity to raise the awareness within our communities about the seriousness of this disease that currently affects nearly 26 million children and adults in the United States; this means that 8.3% of the American people suffer from this disease."
“The Affordable Care Act is clearly helping small businesses despite Republican claims to the contrary,” said Rangel, who introduced the Affordable Care Act that was signed by President Barack Obama in March 2010. “It makes no sense for Republicans to make repealing Obamacare their number one priority when Americans all over the country are benefiting from this historic law."
I send my thoughts and prayers to the families, friends, and loved ones of all those who have lost their lives in the course of Hurricane Sandy. My heart goes out to the millions of Americans who are facing destruction and devastation in their homes and communities today.
"As we brace for potentially historic weather conditions over the next 72 hours, it is important to think about how best to prepare for extended periods of time without power and access to essential goods and services. Remember that your family may not be together if disaster strikes so it is important to identify a plan of action during periods without power and communication."
Congressman Charles B. Rangel and Ambassador Se-joo Son, South Korean Consul General in New York, joined together in applauding and wishing the students at Harlem's Democracy Prep Public Schools (DPPS) well in their upcoming trip to Korea. Approximately 40 students will be traveling to Korea from November 8 to 21, as part of a cultural exchange initiative.
"I am thankful to receive this recognition for my work on behalf of our youngest generation," said Rangel. "The decisions we make now determine their future of possibilities and leaving a better world for them is my top priority."
“Our cancer centers provide the best care in the world to cancer patients and the healthcare law has continued to improve the care that they receive," said Rangel, the sponsor of the Affordable Care Act. "The proposed Medicare cuts to radiation oncology payments would have reversed the progress that we have achieved and would have been unacceptable.”
“Bullying Prevention Month is a time that we take to raise awareness of bullying and what can be done to prevent it. We must work together to end all types of bullying as it can have devastating effects on children and can even lead to suicide.
