Brig. Gen. John L. Wilkinson is mobilization assistant to the Director of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Deputy Chief of Staff for Air and Space Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. The ISR Director is the Air Force's senior intelligence officer and is responsible to the Chief of Staff for the organization, training and equipping of more than 25,000 Air Force officer, enlisted and civilian intelligence professionals.

General Wilkinson was commissioned in June 1966 as a graduate of the Georgetown University Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program and was trained as an intelligence officer. In Southeast Asia he served as an intelligence officer with the 602nd Special Operations Squadron, Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand. He has served in staff officer positions at Headquarters Tactical Air Command, the Defense Intelligence Agency and Headquarters U.S. Air Force.

A member of the Senior Executive Service as a civilian, the general is Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau for Asia and the Near East, Agency for International Development, Washington, D.C.
