White House counterterrorism chief John O. Brennan said Friday that European failure to join the United States in designating the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah a terrorist organization is undermining international counterterrorism efforts.

US learning to say 'sorry' in Japan after high-profile incidents
After two sailors were detained recently for the alleged assault and rape of a Japanese woman on Okinawa, official apologies flew. The U.S. military hasn’t always been so quick to express regret about accusations of serious crimes committed by troops in Japan – although it seems to be learning it has more to gain from doing so than not.

Yokota to start housing most unaccompanied personnel off base
Yokota announced Friday that its “base-first” housing policy would no longer apply to many incoming officers and NCOs, who will have to live outside the gates of the suburban Tokyo installation if they are unaccompanied.
