F-22 endures 3-week, cold-weather test at Eielson
An F-22 Raptor comes to a stop Nov. 5 on the runway at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska. The F-22 underwent cold-weather testing on its braking system, with emphasis on its ability to maneuver, stop and go on slippery surfaces. The aircraft was tested by the 411th Flight Test Squadron during a three-week deployment on incrementally low-level runway condition reading surfaces, with temperatures ranging between 37 to -13 degrees. Red Flag turns stealthy
An F-117 Nighthawk lands after a Red Flag mission Feb. 12 at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. All three of the Air Force's stealth aircraft models -- the B-2 Spirit, F-117 and F-22 Raptor -- are taking part in Red Flag, which sharpens aircrews' warfighting skills in realistic combat situations. Crews are flying missions during the day and night to the nearby Nevada Test and Training Range where they take part in highly realistic aerial combat.
