$13 - could teach someone how to use public transportation on their own for the first time.

$25 - could help a person with a disability learn to cook a meal on their own for the first time.

$42 - would provide a bus pass for an individual with a disability to get to their new job the first month.

$75 - could enable a group of people with a disabilities on limited income access to recreational social events like a baseball game.

$110 - would allow us to provide one hour of communication access with an American Sign Language Interpreter for a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person.

$500 - could enable a group of individuals with a disabilities on limited income access to the arts, such as a play or live performance.

$2,500 - would enable us to build a life-saving ramp for someone's home so they can go to church, the supermarket or work; even escape in an emergency or fire.

$15,000 - could pay for an entire year of in-home Personal Care Service, which enables individuals to stay in their homes and communities.

Go Direct

The U.S. Department of the Treasury will pay all federal benefit and non-tax payments electronically. Benefit recipients can choose to receive their payments by direct deposit to a bank or credit union account or to a Direct Express® Debit MasterCard® card account. You must make the switch from paper federal benefit checks to electronic payments by March 1, 2013.

If you do not choose an electronic payment option by March 1, 2013, or at the time you apply for federal benefits, you will receive your payments via the Direct Express® card so you will not experience any interruption in payment.
