WASHINGTON -- Veterans living at the Armed Forces Retirement Home here visited the World War II Memorial on May 11. The memorial is nestled between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument on the National Mall. Congress authorized the memorial in 1993 and construction began in September 2001. WASHINGTON -- Retired Chief Master Sgt. Warren J. Toogood, visited the World War II Memorial here May 11. Chief Toogood was a supply specialist in the Pacific during World War II, and he retired from the Air Force after a 24-year career.
