CAMP SABALU-HARRISON, Afghanistan – Engineman Second Class Petty Officer Adrian Bowden, a Navy Reservist from Oceanside, California, is a father of two children and is stationed at 32nd Naval Base in San Diego, assigned to the Littoral Combat Ship Squadron Detachment 103.

He joined the Navy in 2001 and served five years active duty onboard the USS Shiloh (CG-67) before transferring to the Reserves.

Bowden is currently deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at Camp Sabalu-Harrison in Bagram, Afghanistan. He is the water facility supervisor and is responsible for processing, quality assurance, and distribution of over 300,000 gallons of water daily for Camp Sabalu-Harrison. He is also responsible for maintaining operational readiness of the Fire Suppression System.

Bowden stated that “… it has been an educational and challenging experience working with the Army and as a ‘Boots on Ground’ sailor. I am looking forward to successfully completing my third deployment in the Middle East.”

His future goals for his naval career are to make first class petty officer and eventually chief petty officer. He would like to pass along his deployed experiences, engineering knowledge, and be a mentor to junior sailors.
