The Mountain Empire Chapter provides emergency services to members of the U.S. Military and their families. Every day, thousands of servicemen and women on active duty rely on Red Cross for emergency communication with families, confidential counseling, and in getting loans and grants from military aid societies. Locally, the Mountain Empire Chapter provides over 650 services to military families each year.

Emergency Communication

If you have a family member in the Armed Forces and need to send a message to them due to a family emergency, call 1-877-272-7337, 24 hours per day. It is helpful to have the following information about the serviceperson available when you call:

Serviceperson’s full name
Branch of Service
date of birth
Social Security #
Rank
Complete military address

Note for your protection: A Red Cross caseworker or military authority will never contact the family of a serviceperson and ask for the above personal information. This information should only be given out if you have initiated the case.

Veterans Programs

Each year our staff and volunteers honor our Veteran’s by participated in local Veteran’s Day parades and conducting a program at area nursing homes. If you would like to join us, please contact our emergency services director.
