The department operates a superior police training academy certified by the Maryland Police Training Commission, has state-of-the-art technology including a fully digitized communications system, and a fleet of patrol cars with mobile data computers and video cameras.

We hire the best. We hire people who are truly committed to public service. We hire people who appreciate the importance of serving all of Frederick's citizens and visitors. Our agency believes in the tenets of community policing and community problem solving. We recognize that police work is really police service, not simply law enforcement.

Frederick is an Extraordinary Community
Frederick is the second largest city in Maryland, located less than an hour from both Baltimore and Washington, DC. Frederick offers the conveniences and opportunities of a big city, but retains a small town atmosphere. Our history is rich, with links to the Civil War and the Founding Fathers. The historic district has been immaculately preserved, and enjoys a thriving tourist business.

The Frederick Police Department is a progressive community-involved organization, committed to sustaining Frederick's superior quality of life. We work in partnership with our citizens, ensuring their satisfaction, and believing that our commitment to them makes Frederick a unique and wonderful place to live and work. Our citizens and visitors enjoy a close-knit feeling of community, and our officers are an integral part of the lives and activities of that community. We care about our city, and embrace Frederick as our home.
