Protecting Adults
The Aging and Long-Term Services Department is committed to protecting the safety of adults who are not able to protect themselves and to promoting the personal choice and self-determination of all we serve.
The Adult Protective Services Division assists adults who do not have the capacity to protect themselves from abuse, neglect, or exploitation, by providing a statewide system of protective services.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program promotes the rights of persons living in nursing homes and other long term-care settings, and advocates for residents transitioning from institutions to home and community setting of their choice.
ALTSD alerts the public to scams targeting the elderly and offers the Senior Medicare Patrol to educate the community in recognizing Medicare fraud, waste and abuse. Links to websites on Senior Safety are also provided in this section.
