BOSS

HISTORY- The BOSS Program was established in 1989 to respond to the Recreational needs of Single Soldiers. As the program was implemented throughout the Army, it became evident that Quality of Life was the primary concern of Single Soldiers. In 1991, the Chief of Staff of the Army officially expanded BOSS to include all aspects of Soldiers’ lives. BOSS members later began to express an interest in Community Service projects. Recreational and Leisure, Quality of Life, and Community Service are the key components of the BOSS Program. Now, here at Ft. Stewart/HAAF, 50% of the Soldiers that make up the Division are Single.

MISSION - The mission of the Ft. Stewart/HAAF BOSS Program is to enhance the quality of life and morale of single Soldiers, increase Soldier retention, and sustain readiness.

VISION - The vision of the BOSS Ft. Stewart/HAAF Program is to “Be the advocate for single Soldiers to ensure they have a Quality of Life commensurate with their service.”

"Speak through us...We are your voice!"

3 Pillars of BOSS

Quality of Life

Quality of Life for Single Soldiers deals primarily with those things that the Single Soldiers can directly or indirectly influence to enhance their morale, living environment, or personal growth and development. Some of the issues addressed are dining facilities, education, fitness centers, Soldiers’ quarters, medical and dental care, commissary, and AAFES.

Recreation and Leisure

Fun activities that are planned by the BOSS council while working in conjunction with the MWR Advisor and the Senior Military Advisor of the BOSS Program on this Installation. These events are geared primarily towards the desires of the Single Soldiers, Single Parents and Geographical Bachelors stationed here at Ft. Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.

Community Service

BOSS councils often elect to participate in community programs or projects which make a difference in the lives of others, the community, ultimately, themselves. In past years, BOSS members have volunteered to take part in Big Brother/Big Sister, and Special Olympics. Some councils have developed their own committees that send packages to deployed Soldiers.
