ESPN America’s Heroes Veterans Day segments to air on AFN

ESPN has planned a weeklong salute to America’s veterans and troops in honor of Veterans Day, programming scheduled to air Nov. 7-11 across its U.S. media platforms, some of which will air on the American Forces Network, ESPN and AFN officials announced Friday in separate statements.
The centerpiece event is the Armed Forces Classic basketball game between Connecticut and Michigan State on Friday (Saturday Japan-Korea time) in Hangar 5 at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, with SportsCenter originating from Hangar 3.
Domestically, Mike & Mike in the Morning hits the road Thursday, broadcasting from the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., and SportsNation will originate from the Air Force Academy in Colorado. College Game Day on Saturday will air before the crew aboard the USS San Diego in San Diego.
Here’s what you can expect over AFN (all times Japan-Korea):
Thursday – More than 40 tributes to servicemembers past and present to air on SportsCenter at 3 a.m. on AFN-Sports, followed by an Outside the Lines segment on veterans connecting with former race horses and using fly fishing as therapy. Tributes and vignettes will air throughout NBA Wednesday games featuring Philadelphia at New Orleans and San Antonio at L.A. Lakers, starting at 9 a.m.
Friday – SportsNation from Air Force Academy to air on AFN-Xtra at 4 p.m. and at midnight. SportsCenter to air on AFN-Sports from Ramstein at 7 a.m. Thursday Night Football featuring Florida State at Virginia Tech to air at 8 a.m. A midnight edition of SportsCenter to air from Ramstein.
Saturday – The Armed Forces Classic begins at 6:30 a.m. on AFN-Sports.
Sunday, Monday – Tributes and vignettes to air throughout ESPN’s college football and NASCAR Sprint Cup telecasts.
