Financing your education

As a member of the military community, you have access to a variety of ways to finance your education. We’re here to help you understand the various financing benefits available, determine which option is best for your situation and answer any questions you may have about the application process.

Active duty soldier studying

Montgomery GI Bill (for active duty and Selected Reserve)

Active duty or Selected Reserve servicemembers can receive a monthly education benefit depending on their length of military service and full- or part-time student status.

Post-9/11 GI Bill (for active duty and veterans)

Tuition benefits are based on length of service after Sept. 10, 2001, plus other eligibility requirements. Stipends for living expenses, books and supplies are provided.
 

Yellow ribbon

Yellow Ribbon Program (for veterans)

A part of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program makes additional tuition assistance available to eligible veterans whose tuition costs more than the highest in-state undergraduate tuition.

Active duty tuition assistance

Tuition Assistance (for active duty)

In addition to the Federal Tuition Assistance and Top-Up Benefit programs, several tuition assistance resources are specific to the major military branches as well as to the National Guard and Reserves.
 

Active duty military spouses

MyCAA (for spouses)

University of Phoenix is an approved school for the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts program, which provides up to $4,000 toward licensing and credentialing programs.
