How Does Public Data About Heart Attack Treatment Change It?

Measurement has long been a cornerstone of quality improvement, whether it's on the factory floor or the hospital ward.

And making the quality scores of doctors and hospitals publicly available is central to the idea that health care can become a service that patients shop for intelligently. The results can also ratchet up professional peer pressure for improvement.

But does public reporting lead doctors and hospitals to game the system by withholding care from the sickest patients?  Read more

Employers On A Crusade To Hire Post-9/11 Veterans
Sometimes in meetings at JPMorgan Chase & Co., Ryan Enriquez is tempted to bark at his employees to "lock it up" when conference calls lose focus. Have You Heard?

The number of female Veterans using VA health care has doubled in the last decade, making women a significantly larger portion of the Veterans we serve every day. Many VA employees are women Veterans as well. As you celebrate all Veterans for their service to our country this Veterans Day, remember to recognize the women Veterans around you for their contributions. The VA Women’s Health Services office and the National Women Veterans Communications Workgroup created a poster, digital/Web art, social media messages, and a Facebook image to “share,” which celebrate the contributions of women Veterans. Visit the Women’s Health SharePoint to download these resources for your use on this Veterans Day and beyond, at http://go.va.gov/lkaj.
