SCHOLARSHIPS
AMVETS annually awards scholarships to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, high school JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education.

The following scholarships, funded by the AMVETS National Service Foundation, are awarded annually:
- Six $4,000 scholarships for high school seniors (PDF) ($1,000 a year of a four-year undergraduate program or at an accredited technical/trade leading to certification or a degree; one selected from each district).
- Three $4,000 scholarships for veterans (PDF) ($1,000 a year of a four-year undergraduate program or certification/degree from an accredited technical/trade school; no regard for district boundaries).
- One $1,000 scholarship for a JROTC high school senior (PDF) entering any undergraduate programs (no regard for district boundaries).

Family Foundation Memorial Scholarship
One $3,000 scholarship for veterans/guardsman/reservists (PDF) will be awarded nationwide per year, for the duration of the grant, without regard for district boundaries. The scholarship is for veterans, including members of the National Guard and Reserves, seeking new skills in order to be more competitive in the job market. The one time $3,000 award may be used for undergraduate courses, accredited degree or certificate programs, including online schools.
University of Phoenix
The University of Phoenix is pleased to partner with AMVETS to offer and fund a scholarship program. This scholarship program will help to help veterans; active duty service members, reservists, guardsmen and family members obtain a high-quality education.
Through this scholarship program, fifty (50) scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $7,000 non-cash credit to the University of Phoenix. The scholarship can be used towards an undergraduate or master’s program. Recipients may choose to take courses at a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or online.
We are excited to announce that applications can be submitted online this year. Please review the following options.
Option 1: Online Application (preferable)
1. Access the University of Phoenix AMVETS Scholarship online application.
2. Follow the instructions to complete the online application, including the essays.
3. Review your application before submitting.
4. Print a copy of the submitted application for your records.
Option 2: Paper Application
If you are under 21 years of age, or do not wish to complete the application electronically, you must submit your paper application via mail.
1. Print a copy of the University of Phoenix AMVETS Scholarship application.
2. Complete the paper application, including all supporting documentation.
3. Your application and signed forms must be submitted via the mailing address on the application under submission instructions and must be received on or before the deadline date.
Deadline Date: August 21, 2012
A complete application and supporting documentation must be received on or before August 11, 2011. Applications received after the designated deadline date will not be considered. No exceptions.
Award Date:
The scholarship committee will determine the recipients of the scholarship by the award date of November 11, 2012. You will be notified via email by award date regarding the status of the scholarship. You will receive a notification email regardless if you were selected as a recipient or not.

Tuition Benefit for All AMVETS Members
Eligible students of ORGANIZATION communities/AMVETS will receive a ten percent (10%) reduction from the University’s regular tuition amounts for all programs. This tuition discount is available to all members in good standing of AMVETS and its subordinates (Auxiliary, Sons & Riders) in possession of a current membership card. Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve members and their spouses will continue to receive the standard military tuition rates.
