Commissioners and President & CEO Tour Public Housing Sites in South Los Angeles |
HACLA President and CEO Douglas Guthrie and Commissioners Dennis Hernandez, Margarita Garr and Lucelia Hooper toured Imperial Courts, Gonzaque Village and Avalon Gardens communities on September 13.
At Avalon Gardens, they met with a group of residents and RAC members for a discussion on issues concerning the community. Captain Phil Tingirides and officers from HACLA’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) program joined them for the meet and greet with the community. The discussion focused on improving access to services, educational programs, safety, as well as physical improvements to the units.
The tours, held regularly, serve as an opportunity for the Commissioners to engage the communities, understand the concerns and issues that each site may face, as well as a chance to meet with the residents face to face. In addition to these tours, every other month, Board of Commissioners meetings are held at a public housing community. Please check our calendar of events listings for dates. |
