Douglas Guthrie
President & CEO
 
Mr. Guthrie has 40 years of experience in the housing industry, both the public and private sector. He joined the Housing Authority in April 2012 and prior to his current position he was appointed as the General Manager of the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) in December 2009, where he oversaw a staff of 600. In that capacity, he managed the City’s primary affordable housing development programs which address affordable housing, transit oriented development and supportive housing for the homeless.
 
Before joining the City of Los Angeles, Guthrie was the President of Kimball Hill Urban Centers in Chicago, Ill, a developer of large scale mixed use and mixed income housing developments. Mr. Guthrie also held various positions in the City of Chicago, including Chief Operating Officer of the Chicago Housing Authority and Deputy Housing Commissioner. He began his career working for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
 
Mr. Guthrie received a BA Degree in sociology and Masters Degree in public administration from Kent State University in Ohio.
