Grants to End Homelessness

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki announced today the award of $1 million in homeless prevention grants to the New Jersey counties of: Burlington, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean. The grants will serve approximately 400 homeless and at-risk Veteran families as part of the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. Full Story

Father and daughter Pete and Lori Falzarano of Stirling, N.J., have a lot in common … a strong family resemblance, pitching the first no-hitter at Watchung Hills High School (Pete in baseball; Lori in softball), and coaching each other in athletic competitions. *** UPDATED INFORMATION *** Due to Hurricane Sandy, here is the UPDATED schedule for FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2012: CLOSED: ALL OUTPATIENT APPOINTMENTS at LYONS and the NEWARK; HACKENSACK; HAMILTON; JERSEY CITY; MORRISTOWN; and TINTON FALLS Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) will be CLOSED on Friday. OPEN: The following CBOCs will be OPEN on Friday: Elizabeth; Paterson; Piscataway; and James J. Howard (Brick), with the exception of the Surgical Clinic, which will be closed. For East Orange, ALL CLINICS will be OPEN on Friday, with the exception of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT). If you are a patient in need of medications, please call 973-676-1000, x1580. Please attempt to report to the East Orange, Lyons, or Brick Campuses for medication pick-up as mail deliveries may not be reliable. Please remember, if you have a true emergency, please call 911.
