Ex-Sigonella MVP Jacks picks Coastal Carolina

Germantown, Md., senior Ben Jacks, who was the MVP of the 2010 European Division III tournament and the Stars and Stripes player of the year while playing for Sigonella, has agreed to play collegiate soccer at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., Jacks’ father Matt emailed on Monday.

The younger Jacks, a standout Olympic Development Program left wing and striker with extensive international experience, chose Coastal Carolina over other D-I offers “based on their style and speed of play, coaching staff, and success of both the team –  consistent NCAA tournament appearances – and the players – several All-Americans and professional careers,” according to the elder Jacks.

The elder Jacks was assigned to Walter Reed Military Medical Center after his son’s sophomore year at Sigonella.
