Suicide Prevention

Did you know that most people feel sad and worried at some time in their life? When the sadness doesn’t go away and things like enjoyment in life, sleeping, thinking, and eating are difficult, a treatable condition known as clinical depression may be the cause.

If you or someone you know is suspected of suffering with depression, seeking help from a physician or a mental health professional can be a courageous, life-saving act.

If depression is ignored, the worst symptom that can develop is thoughts of suicide. Suicide is the eighth leading cause of death. Suicide is preventable. September 7th through September 13th is National Suicide Prevention Week. Please join Lehigh County Department of Human Services in supporting suicide prevention. Together we can reduce the number of suicides in the U.S. by promoting suicide prevention and awareness.
