Services

Tenants of Brookview Independent Living Apartments can access a variety of services from Cedarbrook Nursing Home. Unless indicated, there are fees for these services, which are not included in the monthly rent. In some instances, Medicare, Medicaid or other third party insurance may cover the cost of certain services. Tenants of Brookview are under no obligation to obtain these services from Cedarbrook Nursing Home, and are free obtain services from the provider of their choice.

The services available are:

Activities: Throughout the year, a variety of entertainment programs and activities are held in the Cedarbrook auditorium. Brookview tenants are welcome to attend any of these programs at no extra cost. In addition, there are living rooms/activity rooms on each floor of the independent living unit. Tenants are free to use these rooms to engage in activities of choice with other tenants, family members and visitors.

Barber/Beauty: Tenants can schedule haircuts, shampoos, hairstyling, perms, and shaves Monday through Saturday. Appointments are required.

Cable Television: Basic cable service is included in the monthly rent. Tenants may establish a separate account with our cable provider for pay channels and additional services. The cable company will bill the tenant or responsible party directly for any services above and beyond the basic cable service provided by Brookview.

Chaplain/Religious Services: The services of a chaplain are available to any tenant who requests spiritual counseling. Tenants are welcome to attend the weekly Sunday church services. For Catholics, there is a monthly mass on the third Tuesday of the month, and Eucharistic Ministers from St. Catherine’s will visit to give Holy Communion upon request. These services are available at no extra cost.

Housekeeping: The Environmental Services staff will maintain the cleanliness of the community dining rooms, community living rooms/activity rooms, hallways and lobbies. Tenants are responsible for disposing of their trash in a centralized area, ant the Environmental Services staff will collect the trash on a daily basis. For a fee, housekeeping of tenants’ apartments is available on a weekly basis. This service must be scheduled in advance.

Laundry: Coin-operated washers and dryers are available on each floor. Tenants must supply their own detergent, fabric softener, etc. As an alternative, laundry services (linens and personal clothing) are available for a fee. Cedarbrook Nursing Homes does not operate an on-site laundry. These services are provided through contracts with outside providers.

Maintenance: The Facilities staff will maintain the building, grounds, and appliances. Tenants will be charged for services above and beyond basic or routine maintenance.

Meals: Tenants have the option to purchase prepared meals from Cedarbrook Nursing Home rather than prepare meals in their apartments. Therapeutic diets and nutritional supplements are available to meet specialized dietary needs.

Professional Services: Podiatry, dental, optometry, audiology and psychiatric services are available through the Cedarbrook Clinic. These services are available on a fee for service basis. The provider will bill the tenant, or, if applicable, his/her insurance. Physician services are also available, but tenants must travel to the physician's office in the community to receive services

Rehabilitation Services: Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy are available to the tenants of Brookview. These services must be medically necessary and ordered by the tenant’s attending physician. Services are available Monday through Friday. Services can be provided in the tenant’s apartment or in the therapy department. The Rehab department will bill the tenant, or his/her insurance for these services.

Telephone Service: Tenants will arrange for telephone service directly with the telephone company. The Brookview Admissions Coordinator will assist the tenant as needed. A telephone company representative will assist the tenant in selecting the most cost-effective plan to meet his/her needs.
