Frequently Asked Questions

How many messages will I receive?
When you sign up, you will receive a few introductory messages/questions. These questions will ask for your gender, age, role and zip code. CDC uses this information to tailor the health messages you receive. This way, we can more easily send messages about Women’s health to women, or messages about a hurricane to subscribers who live in the nearby vicinity.

After the introductory messages, you should expect to receive three health tips each week.
Is there a cost?
CDC does not charge subscribers to participate in this pilot program. Standard text messaging rates from your wireless carrier may apply.
How do I opt out?

You can opt out at any time by sending a reply with the word STOP in the body of the message.
