- On June 22, 2012, President Obama announced the Presidential Delegation to the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Led by First Lady Michelle Obama, the delegation included US Ambassador to the UK Louis Sussman along with former Olympians Brandi Chastain, Dominique Dawes, Summer Sanders, Grant Hill and Gabriel Diaz de Leon.
- On July 16, 2012, leading up to the 2012 Olympics, the USA Men's and Women's basketball teams played exhibition games in Washington, D.C. President Obama was on hand with the First Lady and Vice President Biden.
- On July 26th, 2012, First Lady Michelle Obama and the Presidential Delegation arrived in London and met with members of Team USA.
- On July 27th, 2012, the First Lady hosted a Lets Move! event in London for over 1,000 American military children and British students. Later, as head of the Presidential Delegation, the First Lady attended the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.
