6/29/2011 - EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (AFNS) -- Tech. Sgt. Daniel L. Douville, of the 96th Civil Engineer Squadron, died June 26 as a result of injuries suffered from an improvised explosive device on the border of the Nad 'Ali district of Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Sergeant Douville, an explosive ordnance disposal technician stationed here, was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

"It is with great sadness we will add Tech. Sgt. Daniel Douville's name to the EOD Memorial Wall," said Col. Anthony Higdon, the 96th Civil Engineer Group commander. "He was a husband, a father, a dedicated EOD technician and true patriot. The EOD mission is one of the most dangerous, yet critical operations needed in this war. We are indebted to him and his family for their sacrifice."

A memorial service will be announced in the near future.

Danny D, it has come time to lay down your arms, retire your Leatherman, and step out of the suit. We will take up the fight in your stead and band together as the Brothers and Sisters of the EOD community. We will never forget your sacrifice dedication and the true love that you held for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal way of life - memoratus in aeternum.
