Listen to 1st Sgt. Christopher Hambaugh speak to his Marines about the significance of the Ground Zero Memorial Run, May 29th. The Marines ran nearly two miles through the financial district of New York to the Ground Zero Memorial in remembrance of those killed on 9/11 and to reflect on the attacks that led the country to war. Most of the Marines in the run joined the Marine Corps after the Sept 11th attacks. Hambaugh, a Tampa, Fla., native is part of the Marine Special Purpose Air Ground Task Force New York supporting Fleet Week New York 2012. Fleet Week is an opportunity for Marines, sailors and coast guardsmen to show the people of New York who the Marine, Navy and Coast Guard team are, what they do, and how committed they are to serving this country. Twenty-one U.S. and coalition ships and more than 6,000 troops will participate in the 25th anniversary of Fleet Week New York, a celebration of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, May 23-30.
