Air Force Week in Photos
With 20 pounds strapped to her back, an Airman sprints to catch up to her teammates during the Bataan Memorial Death March at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., March 25, 2012. Personnel assigned to Scott AFB participated in the base’s inaugural Bataan Memorial Death March in honor of the thousands who lost their lives during the actual march during World War II. To AF Officer McDill its not about mimicing what the Army does but honoring the members of the Bataan Death March. Brave men and women will do all they can to preserve our freedom. PLEASE STOP criticizing them for doing it the only way they know how even if it is ugly. Some people would have us forget that a heavy price has been paid so that we can live in comfort and security barely even noticing the reality of the world around us. But that privilege didn't just fall out of a box - it was established in blood.

Wow.The REAL Bataan Memorial Death March google it is a full 26.2 miles not 12.6 miles and requires a 35 lb ruck excluding water not 20 lbs. While this may be a big deal for the regular Air Force in the Army it's simply called Sunday.
AF officer, MacDill AFB

Many props to those who participated in the Bataan Memorial Death March. Especially to my brother IS2 Russo and his USCG team who went to White Sands and rucked it out in the heavy team with 35 punds on their back and 20 plus miles

I knew a gentleman named Orrie Mulholland who was on the Bataan Death March. He has passed away but I know that he is looking down from heaven with pride at this demonstration of solidarity with all veterans and active duty personnel. Thank you for remembering.
