Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program
WelcomeThe Podiatry Medicine and Surgery Residency Program and Graduate Medical Education Program will provide an exceptionally well rounded clinical experience in education and training for the progressive development of podiatrists while providing services to the regional community and ensuring military readiness.
This process has as its ultimate goal; the improvement of podiatric health care outcomes for active duty service members, their dependents and the retiree population; both directly and by providing skilled consultants and patient care within our specialty.
The mission of the program is to train residents as health care professional with the opportunity to gain experience in general podiatry, podiatric medicine, podiatric surgery, reconstruction, trauma, general surgery and pediatrics as it applies to the hospital, clinical and academic settings.
In addition, the resident will be exposed to and participate in the management of podiatric patients in a surgical and non-surgical setting. The resident will become familiar with the roles and responsibilities of other medical disciplines and the interaction and importance of podiatric medicine in health care today.
The podiatric training program is in a major teaching facility; the responsibilities placed on the residents will be substantial and challenging. The program is a CPME accredited Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency (PM&S-36) Program, where the residents will participate in rotations involving anesthesiology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, out-patient podiatry clinics, in-patient podiatry management, general surgery, behavioral health, infectious disease, wound care, podiatric surgery, and radiology.
The 2nd and 3rd year are on-going rotations in podiatric surgery, out-patient podiatric clinics, in-patient management, as well as rotations in orthopedic surgery and trauma.
