One of the many things that truly sets the Oregon Veterans’ Home apart from other care communities is its residents. Like you, they have served their country in times of war and in times of peace.  Also, having lived full lives, they have many memories and stories to share.  They are veterans, just like you.

Welcome to the place where honor lives.  Welcome to the Oregon Veterans’ Home.

Situated on 15 acres, the Oregon Veterans´ Home is located in the historic Columbia Gorge community of The Dalles. From the hill on the east side of town, residents have a beautiful panoramic view of the city, the Columbia River, The Dalles Dam and majestic Mount Hood.

Opened in the fall of 1997, the Home can care for as many as 151 residents who need long-term care in a care facility that provides skilled nursing, Alzheimer’s and dementia-related care, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative care to veterans, their spouses and parents who have lost a child to war-time service.

In 2008, the Home was awarded the Step II Award for Quality Achievement from the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL).  To date, the Home is one of only 170 care facilities in the nation – and one of only two state veterans’ homes – to achieve this level of recognition.

Discover the Veterans’ Home for yourself.  Schedule a tour or give us a call to speak with our friendly staff about your individual need.
