  • The 13th Congressional District & Map

Ohio's 13th Congressional District truly is a great place to live, raise a family and do business. Congresswoman Sutton has lived most of her life in and around the communities that make up much of the district, and she is proud to represent the people and places she knows and loves so much.

Originally nicknamed the “Turnpike District”, the 13th Congressional District’s unique shape traces across the shoreline of Lake Erie in Lorain County, captures the “Emerald Necklace” of the Cleveland MetroParks and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and extends south to include the Portage Lakes State Park in Summit County. The 13th Congressional District is also home to institutions of higher learning such as Lorain County Community College and The University of Akron.

The 13th Congressional District stretches across four of Northeast Ohio’s most populous counties, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Medina, and Summit, and it includes all or some of over thirty communities.

Rep. Sutton Issues Statement on Labor Day

Today, Congresswoman Betty Sutton (OH-13) issued the following statement recognizing Labor Day:

As thousands of Ohioans struggle to find work and put food on their table, it’s important to remember why we march in Labor Day parades across our state.

We march today to honor the working men and women who built this country and who continue to prove that they can out-build and out-innovate anyone. We march today to remember the sacrifice of those who came before us, the fight for better working conditions and fair pay, and the struggle that remains to protect the rights of workers to collectively bargain.

Every step we take along that parade route serves as a reminder of the steps we need to take moving forward to create jobs again here in Ohio.
Working together, we can fight to level the playing field by holding China accountable when they engage in unfair trade practices, and by rejecting failed trade policies like the three trade deals that will come to Congress for a vote in the coming months. We can also provide new incentives to invest in infrastructure and put Ohioans back to work building a cleaner, greener economy.

From my family to yours, I hope you have enjoyed this Labor Day, and remember why we march: to remember those who have sacrificed, and to rededicate ourselves to putting Americans back to work.
