Mr. Roberto I. Guerrero, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Director of Staff, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga. The Air Force Reserve Command is one of 10 Air Force major commands. With more than 70,000 personnel assigned, it is the second largest major command. Air Force Reserve Command's 34 wings and six groups operate at 10 Reserve bases and on 56 other bases throughout the Air Force. The command provides support to each of the other Air Force major commands and to combatant commanders across the globe.

Mr. Guerrero earned his commission as an ensign in the Navy through Aviation Officer Candidate School in 1988. He completed pilot training and was first assigned to the UH-1N helicopter with the Antarctic Development Squadron 6 at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, Calif. Mr. Guerrero and his crew were awarded the Naval Helicopter Association's 1992 Aircrew of the Year Award for their efforts in the rescue of a fellow aircrew during an Antarctic blizzard. He completed warfare specialty cross-training with qualification in the MH-53E, serving with Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 15, NAS Alameda, Calif. In 1996, following the squadron's move to south Texas, he was reassigned to Training Squadron 28 where he was the safety officer, operations officer and a flight instructor in the T-34C.

In 2000, Mr. Guerrero was selected for inter-service transfer to the Air Force. He qualified in the E-3 AWACS and held assignments at Tinker AFB, Okla., and Kadena Air Base, Japan, where he commanded the 961st Airborne Air Control Squadron. He later served at the Air Force Safety Center as a division chief and culminated his military career as the center's Vice Commander. He participated in operations Deep Freeze, Korean Contingency and Noble Eagle, and flew 24 combat missions over Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a command pilot with more than 4,100 flight hours, including more than 350 combat hours. Mr. Guerrero then entered civil service where he served as Deputy Chief of Safety, U.S. Air Force, and Executive Director, Air Force Safety Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.
