Brigadier General Sean L. Murphy is the Commander, Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA). He oversees execution of Air Force Surgeon General Policies supporting Air Force expeditionary capabilities, healthcare operations and national security strategies. General Murphy is responsible for leading consultative support of over 43,000 personnel, 75 Medical Treatment Facilities with a $6.1B budget. General Murphy ensures a cost-effective, modern and prevention-based healthcare continuum for 2.1 million beneficiaries worldwide.

General Murphy is a 1981 distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and obtained his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland. General Murphy is board certified in pediatrics, qualified in aerospace medicine and has a Masters Degree in National Security Strategy from National War College. He has commanded at the flight, squadron and group levels in both the deployed and home station environment. General Murphy has served at the Joint COCOM level as the SOUTHCOM Command Surgeon and previously as the Pacific Air Force Command Surgeon.
