Brigadier General Andrew M. Mueller is the Commander, NATO E-3A Component, Geilenkirchen, Germany. He leads an international military and civilian staff, representing 17 NATO nations, which provide an airborne early warning, command and control and battle management capability to support joint and NATO commanders. He commands the only operational flying organization within the NATO Force structure.
General Mueller graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1985. He is a master air battle manager with more than 3,800 hours flying on the E-3 AWACS aircraft. He has served in various operational and staff positions. The general commanded the 964th Airborne Air Control Squadron, Tinker AFB, Okla., leading the squadron through deployments in support of operations Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Noble Eagle. As Commander of the 505th Training Group, Hurlburt Field, Fla., he was responsible for providing education and training to joint and coalition warfighters on air and space command and control weapons systems and procedures at the operational level of war.
General Mueller has served on the staff of U.S. Pacific Command where he was responsible for the integration of command and control systems, missile defense and space operations. In addition, he was Deputy Commander, Combined Air Operations Center 6, Allied Air Forces Southern Europe, NATO, Eskisehir, Turkey. Prior to his current assignment, General Mueller commanded the 81st Training Wing, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi where he was responsible for providing technical training for officers, enlisted and civilians of the Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve as well as other Department of Defense agencies in a variety of technical areas to include electronics, computer, cyber operations, weather, medical, personnel, comptroller, and information management.
