AFN to air, stream prep football championships

AFN’s George Smith has announced that once again the network will provide live coverage of Saturday’s Super Six high school football championship tripleheader from Baumholder.

The games, which begin at noon CET Saturday and run consecutively, pit defending Division-III champion Rota against unbeaten Baumholder for the European nine-man crown in the opener; three-time defending European champion Bitburg, riding a 29-game winning steak, against unbeaten Naples for the D-II title at 2:30 p.m., and unbeaten Ramstein against Patch for the European Division I crown at 5 p.m.

AFN will televise the games on its Pentagon Channel and stream the video on AFNEUROPE.net. The network will broadcast the games on its Powernet Radio stations and stream them on AFN 360-Internet Radio, according to Smith.

Do you plan to tune in?

Let us know and tell us where you’ll be when the final 2012 high school football showdowns kick off, probably for the last time, in Baumholder. Next year, the schools plan to hold their finales in the new artificial-turf stadium under construction at Kaiserslautern High School.
