The Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay public affairs (PA) officer serves as the principal advisor to the commanding officer for all PA matters, which include internal information, media relations, community relations, official photography, and emergency or emergent communications.

Internal Communications

The PA office produces the weekly award-winning base newspaper, The Periscope, and an annual base guide. It also hosts the base Web site and maintains the on-base cable TV information channel (Channel 12). You can also find more information about the base on Facebook!

The Periscope offers free classified ads for authorized patrons. Forms are available at the PA office in Fluckey Hall (Bldg. 1063), in The Periscope or online. Ads must be submitted in person or by fax to the PA office at 912-573-4717 by noon on Monday.

Potential advertisers or other patrons may contact the paper's publisher directly for policies and rates.

The Periscope is available in news stands on base and in the community every Thursday morning except during the week of July 4 and two weeks during the Christmas and New Year's holiday.

Community Relations

The PA office coordinates a robust community relations program, which includes the award-winning Navy Community Service Program. It includes Project Good Neighbor; Campaign Drug Free; Health, Safety and Fitness; Environmental Stewardship; and Personal Excellence Partnership.

If you want to volunteer or request volunteers, please call or send an e-mail to cnisekngspao@navy.mil and use "VOLUNTEER" in the subject line.

The PA office also coordinates a speaker's bureau. If you want to register for the speaker's bureau or request a speaker for your organization or event, please call 912-573-4714 or send an e-mail cnisekngspao@navy.mil and use "SPEAKER" in the subject line.

Official Photography

The PA office coordinates official photography only. For inquiries, please contact the photographer at 912-573-9623.

Emergent / Emergency Communications

During emergent or emergency situations, Emergency Management activates the Emergency Command Center (ECC). From the ECC and other locations, the PA staff disseminates information to people on base, in the community, and the media in a variety of ways. In an emergent or emergency situation, check out this Web site, tune to TV Channel 12 (on base), tune to local media (we will advertise which stations to tune in), and / or communicate with your chain of command.

In any endeavor, please make safety your number one priority.

Tours

Unfortunately, public tours of the base are not offered at this time. Tours may be available to authorized Department of Defense approved groups such as scouts, Sea Cadets, and ROTC units. For more information, please visit the Tours page or call 912-573-9155.
