Investor Education: Creating and Delivering Successful Programmes, Washington D.C. 2-3 March 2009

IOSCO and the International Forum for Investor Education (IFIE) will jointly host a conference on the best ways to establish new investor education programmes and to strengthen those programmes already in existence. This will be a unique opportunity to learn from and network with the world's leading experts on investor education.

IOSCO SRO Consultative Committee Seminar for Emerging Markets Regulators, Washington D.C. 8-10 December 2008
|
IOSCO's SRO Consultative Committee (SROCC) held a three-day seminar in Washington, D.C. from 8-10 December 2008.
This inaugural seminar, which was designed to address topics of importance for emerging markets regulators, covered selected IOSCO principles and issues, and discussed how they are implemented in various jurisdictions:
- Standards for market intermediaries
- Firm inspections
- Models of self-regulatory organizations
- Accreditation of salespersons
- Market regulation
The seminar was co-sponsored by the Japanese Securities Dealers Association (chair of IOSCO's SROCC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and IOSCO's Emerging Markets Committee. An outline of the seminar is available at this link.

Emerging Markets Committee Conference, Marrakech 7-10 October 2008
|
The Conseil Déontologique des Valeurs Mobilières (CDVM) of Morocco hosted the Emerging Markets Committee (EMC) annual meeting and conference. The event took place in Marrakech from 7-10 October 2008.
The EMC is a specialised committee which endeavours to promote the development and improvement in efficiency of emerging securities and futures markets by establishing principles and minimum standards, preparing training programs for the staff of members and facilitating exchange of information and transfer of technology and expertise. Its membership represents over 80 securities market regulators from jurisdictions with developing financial markets. This committee plays a critical role in terms of markets development, transfer of expertise and cross-border cooperation.
