Fire and Emergency Services

Fire Department

The Fire Department provides protection for the NAS complex and Joe Williams Field. Fire protection is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week for structural and aircraft fire fighting and rescue services. They investigate causes of fires and conduct basewide fire prevention and safety programs.

Emergency Services

The only service available after hours and on holidays is our emergency ambulance service at 911. We do not have an emergency room. All on-base medical emergencies will result in the patient's immediate transport to a local emergency room in Meridian. A medical emergency is defined as "a sudden medical condition endangering life, limb, or eye sight." For off-base and civilian ambulance services, call 911 from any telephone with off-base access. The ambulance crew is operated by NAS Meridian firefighters who are trained as Basic Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT).
