The Utah Prevention by Design Community Action Plan is posted here for download. The program is a joint project between the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH), NAMI Utah and the Utah Epidemiological Outcomes Workgroup. It is designed to help communities coordinate and enhance their local prevention networks using systematic and evidence based practices, in the field of prevention of mental illness and promotion of mental health.

The State PASRR Office is proud to announce the release of the new video on demand titled "Utah PASRR & Level of Care Training: Transition to the New Process". This video is for Hospital Discharge Planners/Case Managers and Nursing Facilities statewide to highlight the new PASRR process, explains the Level I process and how to access our secure Web based PASRR system.

The Recovery Plus Team is proud to announce the release of the new video titled "When the Smoke Clears". It is a powerful reminder about the dangers of tobacco use. The Combined Behavioral Health Assessment and Plan, for the Federal Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grants, is currently in review with SAMHSA. Utah's School Behavioral Health Services Implementation Manual offers tips on how to begin a school-based behavioral health services program in your area. These programs promote health and wellness, reduce barriers to learning, increase graduation rates, and decrease criminal justice system involvement. Click here to see the manual.

Upcoming Events

The 2013 Generations Conference will be held on April 15-16, 2013 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, and in partnership, The Governor's Military and Family Summit will be held on April 17. For detailed information, please click here for the conference brochure.

DESIGNATED EXAMINER TRAINING EXPANDED - Due to high levels of demand, there will be two Designated Examiner training sessions adjacent to the dates of the Generations Conference. Both of them will be held in Salt Lake City. The first session will be held on April 16th. The second session will be held on April 18. The 35th Annual Substance Abuse Conference will be held in Saint George on September 25-27, 2013. Mark that date on your calendar.

Applications are being accepted for the next Peer Support Specialist (PSS) training course. Candidates who successfully complete the 5 day course will be certified to seek employment as and perform peer support duties throughout the state. The certification training will occur on February 25-March 1st at the Multi Agency State Office Building, located at 195 N. 1950 W. in Salt Lake City. Classes will start at 8:00 am on Monday and at 8:30 am on Tuesday through Friday. All classes will end at 4:30 pm each day. The application deadline is January 25th, 2013.
