Captain James enlisted in the Navy in April 1984, and following recruit training and Data Processing Technician "A" school served aboard the USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). He earned a Naval ROTC scholarship through the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) program and subsequently graduated from the University of Washington in 1989 with a B.A. in Economics and was commissioned an Ensign.
Colonel Carlson is the Commander, 647th Air Base Group, 13th Air Force, and Deputy Commander, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. In the 13th Air Force, he leads more than 2,200 personnel and six squadrons to deliver the full range of mission support for base, theater and global air/joint operations as required by the Commander, U.S. Pacific Command and the Commander, Pacific Air Forces.
Master Chief Ortega was born and raised in Norwalk, California. He is a graduate of Norwalk High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1987. Master Chief Ortega's first duty assignment was aboard the USS Rathburne (FF 1057) and other duty assignments have included Fleet Training Group Pearl Harbor, USS Fletcher (DD 992), Commander Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific, USS Port Royal (CG 73), Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific, USS Lake Erie (CG 70).
Chief Master Sergeant Leslie "Les" Bramlett is the Air Force Senior Enlisted Advisor, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and Superintendent, 647th Air Base Group, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. He acts as the principal Air Force senior enlisted advisor to joint base leaders and the 647th Air Base Group Commander on all matters of health, welfare, morale, utilization, readiness, training and professional development of over 950 Air Force personnel in six joint departments.
