Transportation Services

If families do not have transportation available to get to medical appointments, using friends, neighbors and family members is encouraged. If none of these are available, you may be able to get rides from health centers, community agencies or volunteer groups in your area.  When none of these options are available, try:

  • RI Public Transit Authority (RIPTA), Check  www.ripta.com or call (401) 784-9500
  • The RIDE Program (401) 461-9760
  • Hospital transportation- If you go to the hospital and cannot take the same transportation home, the hospital staff can help you find appropriate transportation.  Ask to speak to the social services or emergency department staff.

When none of the options listed above are available or appropriate, non-emergency transportation services may be arranged for transportation to medical appointments. Please call 784-3899 for assistance.
