Press Guidelines For the Informal Meeting of Defence Ministers The Defence Ministers and Representatives of the Alliance met informally in Vilamoura, Portugal, on 24th and 25th September. The Ministers discussed the situations in Bosnia-Herzegovina and in Kosovo. They also looked ahead to the Alliance Summit meeting next April in Washington. In this regard, they first reviewed the progress on the principal aspects of the Alliance's agenda in the defence field. They then considered further steps to be taken in the preparation for the Washington Summit, and exchanged views on the evolution of the Alliance in the new millennium. The Ministers expressed their thanks to their Portuguese colleague, Minister Veiga Simao for hosting the meeting.
