First Course for Mediterranean Partners at the NATO Defence College The first NATO Defence College Flag Officers course specially intended for Mediterannean partners was opened in Rome on 20 April with the participation of all NATO Allies and five Mediterranean partner countries (Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Mauritania and Tunisia). The Mediterranean partner countries have sent senior military officers or civilian officials. The course's objective is to seek to enhance mutual understanding of each other's security concerns, promote an understanding of NATO's interests and capabilities in the region and offer opportunities for professional and personal networking among participants. 26 participants have registered for this first NATO Defence College course for Mediterranean partners.
