Housing Availability

Although there is no Coast Guard Owned Housing available in the Seattle Area, every member must check in with the Local Housing Office. MLCPAC Housing Policy 001-07 states, "All members reporting to units in PAC AREA are required to obtain a release from mandatory assignment to government quarters prior to receiving BAH. " See required forms below.

Required Forms

All members are required to complete a Request for Housing Determination (MLCPACHSG-003) and an Application for Assignment to Military Housing. You can submit these forms to the Local Housing Officer by e-mail or fax (206-217-6968).

Military Clause

There are two laws that govern the rights and responsibilities of tenants who are military members seeking to terminate a residential agreement (lease) in the state of Washington. The District Legal Office is available to assist you; Rm 3462 at the Jackson Federal Build or 206.220.7119. Please review the Tenants Info sheet for the summary of differences and timelines provided by both laws. Also when terminating under either law give your notice in writing:

Purchasing a Home and DD-1747 Form

Please read "Housing Availability" above. Please check the box next to "Housing Home Purchase" on the Request for Housing Determination (MLCPACHSG-003). In some cases, mortgage companies require a DD-1747, Status of Housing Availability Form. The Local Housing Office can provide you with a completed DD-1147 to provide to your mortgage company. Please contact the Local Housing Office at 206-217-6480.

Leased Housing Eligibility

To determine if you are eligible for CG leased housing, please see the Universal LHP Eligibility Matrix and the Minimum Bedroom Requirements. Exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Local Housing Office Seattle for more details. The Local Housing Office will find a suitable place of residence, according to your specific needs.

BAH Rates

BAH is based on geographic duty location, pay grade, and dependency status. The intent of BAH is to provide uniformed service members accurate and equitable housing compensation based on leased housing costs in local civilian housing markets. To determine your BAH rate, click here. You will need your unit zip code and pay grade. The zip code for any unit on Pier 36 is 98134, and the zip code for any unit at the Jackson Federal Building is 98174.

DOD Government Owned Housing

Coasties may enter into personal leases at DOD Government Housing. American Eagle Communities and the Department of the Navy have formed a partnership to provide exceptional homes in family-friendly neighborhoods for military personnel and their families assigned in the Pacific Northwest. The current housing areas at West Sound, East Sound, and North Sound locations will be transformed into planned residential communities that provide quality homes and responsive services, engendering a sense of community.
