American Community Survey

2006-2010 American Community Survey Selected Population Tables, 2006-2010 American Community Survey American Indian and Alaska Native Tables — These new data products use ACS data aggregated over a 5-year period to provide estimates of detailed social, economic, and housing characteristics for many race, tribal, Hispanic, and ancestry population groups at multiple levels of geography. Detailed tables on topics such as educational attainment, fertility, nativity, citizenship, income, poverty, and homeownership are iterated for many racial and ethnic population groups. (Media embargo and webinar May 22 for puiblic release May 24).

2010 Census

The Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander Population: 2010 — This 2010 Census brief provides a portrait of the Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander population in the United States and discusses its distribution from the national level down to regions, states and counties. The report discusses the size and growth of the Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander population and provides analysis of the largest detailed Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander groups. The brief contains tables and figures (including maps) that display regional, state and county patterns. More information about the 2010 Census briefs, including previously released briefs, can be found in the online press kit. (Webinar and news release scheduled for May 8.)

Demographic

Shades of Gray: A Cross-Country Study of Health and Well-Being of the Older Populations in SAGE Counties: 2007-2010 — Examines the health status and access to health care among people 50 and older in six low- to middle-income countries that participated in the Study on Global Ageing and Adult Health (China, Ghana, India, Mexico, Russia and South Africa). Sponsored by the National Institute on Aging, this is the first-ever Census Bureau report to use data from this survey. (Tentatively scheduled for release May 7.)

The Foreign-Born Population in the United States: 2010 — This report, based on 2010 American Community Survey estimates, examines differences in characteristics among foreign-born region-of-birth groups on a wide range of topics that include household, age, sex, marital status, fertility, period of entry into the United States, naturalization and citizenship status, language, education, labor force participation, occupation, health insurance coverage, income and poverty. The report also compares such characteristics by the foreign-born and native-born populations. (Webinar and news release scheduled for May 10.)

Estimates of National, State and County Population by Age, Sex, Race and Hispanic Origin: July 1, 2011 — Is the nation getting younger or older? Which states and counties have the oldest residents? Which states and counties have more men than women? How rapidly is the minority population growing nationally and in each state and county? Or is it growing at all? National-, state- and county-level population estimates cross-tabulated by these demographic characteristics provide the answers. These are the first such population estimates the Census Bureau has published since the release of the official 2010 Census counts. (Tentatively scheduled for release May 17.)

State-Level Maps and Graphs on Voting — This is a menu-driven, interactive Web page with graphs showing percentages of adults by states who voted and registered in congressional and presidential elections between 1996 and 2010. In addition to voting and registration trends, there are graphs showing voting and registration by age, sex, educational attainment, and race and Hispanic origin. Some analysis is provided as well, as are thematic maps of states showing percent voting during each election. The statistics come from the Current Population Survey. (Scheduled for release in May.)

Economic

U.S. Goods Trade: Imports and Exports by Related-Parties — 2011 — This is an annual release with exhibits that provide a snapshot of U.S. related-party imports and exports from selected world areas based on North American Industry Classification System codes. (Scheduled for release May 10.)

Public Education Finances: 2010 — These data tables are a source for revenues, expenditures, debt and assets (cash and security holdings) of elementary and secondary public school systems for the nation, state and school districts. Other tables include per-pupil spending and detailed spending on instruction, special education, school lunches, transportation and salaries. (Scheduled for release in late May.)

Economic Indicators — The Census Bureau releases statistics that provide monthly, quarterly and yearly updates on key measures of the nation's economic condition. Upcoming releases include monthly wholesale trade: sales and inventories, U.S. international trade in goods and services, advance monthly sales for retail and food services. Profile America — Facts for Features

2012 Hurricane Season — The north Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and lasts through November. The Census Bureau produces timely local statistics that are critical to emergency planning, preparedness and recovery efforts. This edition of Facts for Features highlights the number of people living in areas that could be most affected by these dramatic acts of nature. (Scheduled for release in May.)

USA Counties — April 27 — These files contain demographic, economic and governmental statistics from the Census Bureau and other federal agencies, presented for the purpose of multi-county comparisons or single county profiles. National- and state-level statistics are presented as well. The files cover topics such as agriculture, crime, education, health, retail trade and vital statistics. New in this update are additional statistics from the 2005-2009 American Community Survey for economic and housing characteristics and 2010 federal spending. 2010 Census

Spanish-Language Version of the Hispanic Population: 2010 Census Brief — April 30 — This 2010 Census brief released in May 2011 is now available in Spanish. The Spanish version of the Hispanic Population: 2010 brief shows the same information covered in the previous brief: the Hispanic population by detail group distributions (i.e., Mexican, Dominican, Cuban, etc.), change in population since 2000 and growth from the national level down to counties and places. 2010 Census Summary File 2 National Level and Final States — April 26 — Provides demographic information from the 2010 Census for up to 331 race and ethnic groups down to the census tract level, adding a new layer of detail to the population and housing topics previously released from the census. The statistics are being released for the remaining states along with a separate file summarizing the information at the national level and will be embargoed. Households and Families: 2010 — April 25 — This 2010 Census brief discusses interracial couples, multigenerational households, household composition by race and other findings on household relationships from the 2010 Census. It contains tables and maps that display state and county level patterns. A set of supplemental tables showing interracial married and unmarried couple households will be released along with the brief. 2010 Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS) — May 3 — This Census Bureau brief highlights the most recent update to the Business Dynamics Statistics, which found that U.S. business startups have been declining since the 1980s and especially during the 2008-2009 recession. The report concludes that the U.S. has become less entrepreneurial as a result of the decline in startups and the lack of activity by young businesses. The BDS, which provides annual statistics from 1976 to 2010 by firm age and size, is crucial to understanding current and historical U.S. entrepreneurial activity. The BDS results from collaboration between the U.S. Census Bureau's Center for Economic Studies and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the largest American nonprofit organization that focuses on entrepreneurship. 2010 Annual Survey of Public-Employee Retirement Systems — April 30 — These tables provide revenues, expenditures, financial assets and membership information for public- employee retirement systems. Statistics are shown for individual retirement systems at the national, state and local government level. This survey provides current statistics about investment decisions by state and local government retirement systems, which are among the largest types of institutional investors in U.S. financial markets. America By the Numbers on C-SPAN's Washington Journal — Each Friday, C-SPAN's “America By the Numbers” segment features information from the federal statistical system. The program highlights the trends and allows the public to call in or email their views.
