2010 Census

2010 Census Demographic Profiles — These profiles provide more subject detail than the recently released 2010 Census redistricting data files. For example, they provide additional details about race and Hispanic subgroups, five-year age groups and subcategories for vacancies. Also, these profiles offer new information from the 2010 Census, such as sex, household relationship, household type, group quarters population and housing tenure (whether a housing unit is owned or rented). The profiles will be released on a state-by-state basis for each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The data will be available through American FactFinder for detailed levels of geography down to the place/functioning minor civil division-level, as well as for the nation, regions, divisions and other areas that cross state boundaries. (Scheduled for release in May. A pre-release webinar is planned for April 27.)

Demographic

Educational Attainment in the United States: 2010 — Who is more likely to have earned a college degree -- men or women? How many of us who begin work toward a degree actually earn one? Tables from the Current Population Survey present national data on the highest level of education achieved, showing, for the first time, exactly how many years of education adults have at each broad level of attainment, making it possible to determine exactly how close people came to graduating. Included as well are historical tables on mean earnings by level of attainment. (Scheduled for release in April.)

Fertility of American Women: 2010 — This release profiles fertility patterns of American women by age, race, ethnicity, education, marital status, income and nativity. These data were collected from the Fertility Supplement to the June 2000 and 2010 Current Population Surveys. (Scheduled for release in May.)

Number, Timing, and Duration of Marriages and Divorces: 2009 — Presents comprehensive data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation on the marital history of adults, covering topics such as the frequency of remarriage, duration of marriages, number of times ever married, median age at marriage and divorce and median time to remarriage following divorce. (Scheduled for release in May.)

Economic

Survey of Business Owners: Asian-Owned Businesses: 2007 — Shows the number of privately owned firms, sales and receipts, number of paid employees and annual payroll of businesses owned by people of Asian origin. For the first time since 2002, counties and metropolitan areas and cities can see profiles of Asian-owned businesses in their area. Findings will be presented at a webinar news conference. (Scheduled for release April 28.)

State and Local Government Employee Retirement Systems: 2009 — Provides an annual look at the financial activity of the nation's state and local public employee retirement systems, including cash and security investment holdings, receipts and payments. (State data scheduled for release April 27; state and local data are tentatively scheduled for release in June.)

Survey of Business Owners: Veteran-Owned Businesses: 2007 — Shows the number of privately owned firms, sales and receipts, number of paid employees and annual payroll of businesses owned by military veterans. Provides the first-ever detailed information for all such businesses in the United States. Findings will be presented at a webinar news conference. (Scheduled for release May 17.)

Public Education Finances: 2009 — These data tables are a source for revenues, expenditures, debt and assets (cash and security holdings) of elementary and secondary public school systems for the nation, state and school districts. Other tables include per-pupil spending and detailed spending on instruction, special education, school lunches, transportation and salaries. (Scheduled for release in May.)

Economic Indicators — The Census Bureau releases statistics that provide monthly, quarterly and yearly updates on key measures of the nation's economic condition. Upcoming releases in April and May include advance report on durable goods manufactures' shipment, inventories, and orders, housing vacancies and ownership and construction spending. Current Industrial Reports (CIRs) — These data provide monthly, quarterly and annual measures of industrial activity. The 47 CIRs focus on groups of industries such as textiles and apparel, chemicals, primary metals, computer and electronic components, industrial equipment and consumer goods and provide current and historical data on data on production and shipments of selected products. CIR data are used to satisfy economic policy needs and for market analysis, forecasting, and decision-making in the private sector. 2010 Census

Advance Group Quarters Summary File — April 20 — This file contains one table showing counts for seven types of group quarters from the 2010 Census. The institutionalized group quarters categories include correctional facilities for adults, juvenile facilities, nursing facilities/skilled-nursing facilities and other institutional facilities; while the noninstitutionalized group quarters categories include college/university student housing, military quarters and other noninstitutional facilities. Data are shown for states, counties, census tracts and blocks. This table is only available via the FTP site and is identical to table P42 in Summary File 1 to be released this summer. National Summary File of Redistricting Data — April 14 — The same population, housing unit counts and demographic characteristics that were provided to the states in February and March are now available for the United States and other cross-state geographies, such as regions; divisions; metropolitan areas; and American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian areas through American FactFinder. 2008 Immigration/Emigration Supplement Data — April 20 — These data focus on five migration-related topics -- citizenship, year of entry, residence one year ago, residents and emigrants abroad and monetary transfers. The monetary transfers section, in particular, is noteworthy because it represents the first time questions on both the giving and receiving of these transfers were included on a large, federally sponsored, nationally representative survey in the United States. This supplement to the Current Population Survey was fielded in August 2008. The purpose was to provide additional data to improve the statistics on the size and characteristics of the foreign-born population in the United States. Father's Day — April 20 — The Census Bureau honors “dear old dad” with a collection of statistical information from its demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to Father's Day, from stay-at-home dads to time spent with their children. 2011 Hurricane Season — April 21 — The north Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and lasts through November. The Census Bureau produces timely local data that are critical to emergency planning, preparedness and recovery efforts.
