Elimination of Social Security Number (SSN) 
********************************************************************** 
 This is an informational broadcast message regarding the pending 
         publication of the Social Security Interim Final Rule.  This rule 
         revises the FTR to eliminate the collection of the Social Security 
         Numbers (SSN) and provide for the use of an Employer Identification 
         Number or Dun and Bradstreet number for identification purposes in the 
         Automated Export System.  The rule carries out the purposes of the Privacy 
         Act of 1974, Title 5, United States Code, Section 552a to ensure that 
         the U.S. authorized agent's personal information, such as its SSN, is 
         protected. Once the Interim Rule is published in the Federal Register, 
         there will be a 60-day commenting period followed by the implementation 
         and response to comments.  Additional details will follow this broadcast 
         message.
