WEBISODE 10

Final inspection, family day and graduation—the trainees are now soldiers and prepare to leave for their Advanced Individual Training.

I’m Private David Wilk; I’m Private Nathaniel Alejandro.
Wilk: This week we had our final inspection, family day, and prepare for graduation. Coming up to for inspection I had a lot of anxiety just because I wasn’t used to being inspected by the higher-ranking officers.
Alejandro: You spend hours trying to get ready for one inspection, which takes around 30 minutes.
Wilk: I was looking forward to family day that we had yesterday it was great to go with my family hang out with them a little bit.
Alejandro: I was very excited, to see my family I didn’t think they’ve come from Texas all the way to Kentucky but I was very glad they did.
Wilk: When I look back on this in 5 years and the things I’m going to remember most are probably the friendships that I’ve started here and some funny things the Drill Sergeants say all the time to get our attention.
Alejandro: I’m looking forward to AIT. My AIT, luckily enough is in San Antonio; which is less than an hour away from my house.
Wilk: I’m very happy with the decision I made to come into the Army cause I was doing, before I joined the Army I was working at a leather store. Once I joined I’ve seen a lot of changes in myself throughout the last 10-weeks.
Alejandro: Knowing that you’ve gone from a trainee civilian to an actual Soldier representing the United States Army is a great feeling I have.
