Biennial Report

The biennial report of the C. W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program (Program) is an overview of the work of an extensive network of organizations. These organizations provide patients with the hematopoietic stem cells they need for transplants to combat life-threatening diseases and perform scientific analysis of outcomes to improve future results.

2010 Biennial Report

This report describes the activities of the Program and its predecessor, the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry, for January 2008 through December 2009. The Program is operated under Federal contracts by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) and the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research® (CIBMTR).

The biennial report includes:

  • A description of the Program
  • Statistics about the potential marrow donors and donated umbilical cord blood units on the Program’s registry, also called the Be The Match Registry®
  • A description of the process of searching for a matching marrow donor or cord blood unit
  • Data on outcomes for patients who have received an allogeneic transplant (cells from related or unrelated donors or cord blood units)
