News: Falconaires play big tunes for locals

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. – The U.S. Air Force Falconaires Big Band performed at Sumter’s Patriot Hall, Oct. 14, 2012
The band is composed of 19 Air Force Academy bandsmen including five saxophone players, four trumpet players, four trombone players, a drummer, a brass leader, a pianist, a singer and two audio engineers.
They play an array of jazz music including a rendition of the song “Somewhere over the Rainbow” from the movie the "Wizard of Oz."
The Falconaires have been performing for more than fifty years and have appeared at events like International Association of Jazz Educators’ National Conference, the Music Educators National Conference’s National Convention, and Musicfest Canada.
