USGS Global Visualization Viewer: Browser
Requirements
The USGS Global Visualization Viewer (GloVis) requires a web browser with
Java and JavaScript enabled.
Java 1.7 (also called Java 7 or 1.7.0) update 12 or higher
is strongly recommended.
Some browsers may require the installation of a plug-in or add-on for Java.
Some browsers require pop-ups to be allowed for glovis.usgs.gov.
Not all combinations of operating systems, browsers and plug-ins have
been tested.
Recommended Operating Systems and Browsers:
Note that not all versions of the browsers listed have been tested.
If problems occur, upgrading to a newer browser may fix the
problem. Installing the most recent Java version from
java.com may
improve performance.
Please be aware that GloVis no longer supports Netscape
browsers. When using Netscape, problems with the applet may occur.
Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7, and Server, 32-bit and 64-bit
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7+ (IE 8+ on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008)
Some Internet Explorer 8 and 9 users may experience problems with
the GloVis site when the Java version is even slightly out of date.
Please go to java.com
and click "Do I have Java?" to verify that the latest version
of Java is installed.
Mozilla Firefox 2+
Firefox may permanently disable some older versions of
the Java plug in.
Please go to java.com
and click "Do I have Java?" to verify that the latest version
of Java is installed.
Google Chrome may work with GloVis but users may have to restart
their browsers after adding a pop-up blocker exception for this site.
The "Send to Cart" button may not work correctly unless the pop-up
blocker exception is applied before opening the GloVis website.
Apple Macintosh OS X 10.5+ (Intel)
For more information on Java for Mac OS X, please see the downloads
